The Studio

Overlay is an Auckland-based interior architecture studio led by Jules Lyons.

The studio was formed after years of working closely together within an established interior design practice. During that time, we developed a strong alignment — not only in how we design, but in how we collaborate, communicate and support our clients.

While Overlay is a new studio, the experience behind it spans decades across residential, retail, hospitality, commercial and healthcare sectors. This breadth allows us to approach projects with clarity and confidence — balancing strong design thinking with technical rigour and material understanding.

Our work is thoughtful, considered and grounded in the realities of how spaces are used. Every project is shaped through dialogue, detail and careful decision-making — resulting in spaces that feel resolved, enduring and deeply connected to the people who inhabit them.
